Energy Vampires Are Destructive

 

Allowing oneself to be dumped on by an energy vampire is detrimental to one's health.

Be kind but reinforce barriers.

Do not allow them to dump their constant drama onto you by choosing to not be available or by cutting short the conversation.

Who are "Energy Vampires"? They are people who seem to always be in the middle of chaos, most of it caused by their own poor decisions. They are those who cause you to feel tired just by listening to them rattle on and on and on... They are those who continue to swim (yes, swim, not drown) in this sea of turbulence and even when the ship arrives to save them, they discard the life jacket and they jump right back in. They will come and dump on you and then disappear, leaving you burdened with their mess as they swim right back to where they have always been.

Energy Vampires are often thankless, inconsiderate of your time and space and very self-centered. It's all about them and their drama. They lure you in with feigned compliments, tears, gifts and acts of desperation only so you can be open to receive their ginormous dump.

You cannot and should not try to "fix" an Energy Vampire. They need professional help. They only way they will get out of their situation(s) is when they are ready to do so. Too many of us fall prey to these Energy Vampires and it is time for us to stop letting it happen. We don't have to be mean but how are we really going to be any good for ourselves, our families and those who really need our help, love and support?

Enough of the Energy Vampires!
